Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort PRESSROOM
Jul 2017
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - As part of its $25 million renovation, Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort will unveil McCoys Rum Room on July 1. Replacing Clocktower Lounge in the hotel's south tower lobby, the reinvented venue incorporates inviting lounge areas with warm, plush seating, café tables and a large U-shaped bar in a space with sophisticated beach-inspired décor and a stage for live entertainment.
The venue's name and concept draws inspiration from the story of the original rum runner, Bill McCoy, an early 1900s Holly Hill, Fla. resident and sea captain who came to be known as The Real McCoy and inspired The Real McCoy® line of artisan craft rums. During the Prohibition era, he was the first person to load a boat with rum from the Caribbean and deliver it along the Florida coast, becoming famous for always providing a high-quality and unadulterated product.
To pay homage to the rum-running pioneer, McCoys Rum Room features a rum-centric concept with a mid-century modern vibe and Caribbean-inspired accents and furniture. The venue carries The Real McCoy® suite of three, five and 12-year-aged rums and offers the largest selection of rum in Volusia County. McCoys Rum Room serves wine, beer, small plates and signature cocktails, including the Daytona Beach Delight, Copacabana Mule, Watermelon Crush and Caribbean Sidecar.
"We are continuing to enhance our food and beverage offerings for guests through the overall $25 million property renovation," said Ruwan Silva, the resort's director of food and beverage. "McCoys Rum Room is the second venue we've updated as part of our rebranding efforts, and its upscale atmosphere and centralized lobby location make it the perfect setting for guests to gather before a night out or unwind after pushing the pace all day."
The reveal of McCoys Rum Room at Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort follows the May opening of The Blind Turtle, the new outdoor bar that culminated renovations to the hotel's expansive pool areas.
In addition to McCoys Rum Room and The Blind Turtle, Legends Sports Bar will close out the hotel's series of food and beverage enhancements, with a new concept to be revealed later this summer.
